Chocolate Sunday

Chocolate Sunday, 29 November 2015

This was amazing!  Everybody was talking about it!  Chocolate Sunday flyerChocolate Sunday at Ottery St Mary Parish Church, Sunday 29 November.  It was Church with a Fairtrade Chocolate theme, from chocolates at the door, to drinking chocolate and whipped cream, and cake at the end!  Every child received a Fairtrade Chocolate Advent Calendar.  Click on the poster to enlarge it.

Do you know your chocolate?

We found out at Chocolate Sunday.  What chocolate bar is this? Is it a Toffee Crisp, Lion bar or Picnic?

Can you taste the difference?

Can you tell the difference between Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Fairtrade Milk Chocolate, and ordinary Sainsbury’s Fairtrade Milk Chocolate?  We found out we could at Chocolate Sunday!

What do you make of this?

This is Mulberry’s Christmas ad 2015.  We asked your views at Chocolate Sunday.

We sung some songs you knew and maybe some you didn’t.

We sung He came so we could know the Father’s love (The King has come), Bless the Lord O my soul (10,000 Reasons), O Lord my God (How great Thou art) and Great is Thy faithfulness.

You have been loved this Christmas.

Here’s a reworking of John Lewis’ 2015 Christmas ad that we showed on Sunday.  What if it’s true?

  1. It was a great idea to start with and the team worked very well together. Having the children so involved and valuing their comments was a real plus point in the service. So many of their parents and/or grandparents may have been put off ‘Church’ by well meaning sermons or talks that didn’t involve a response from the congregation. (Person D)

  3. I loved the buzz of so many families there and enjoying themselves and considering Jesus. The workers worked effortlessly as an efficient team where nobody cared who got the credit. Brilliant. (Person H)
