Last week we began the Paraclesis: Journeying Together series. ‘Paraclesis’ comes from the Greek words: Para: to be with, alongside Kaleo: to call, to come Paraclesis is coming alongside others. Last week, we were introduced to this through the story of the Good Samaritan. Today, we are going to explore what a paraclesis culture of ‘coming alongside others’ might look like for us as a church, using the story of the feeding of the 5,000 from Mark’s Gospel.
Tomorrow at 11.15am, Ottery St Mary Parish Church, we recognise that we all go through hard times and consider a paraclesis culture in our church. Colin and Richard Allen will be leading us. We plan to sing No Longer Slaves, Spirit of the Living God, Before the Throne of God Above and introduce a new song, What a Beautiful Name.
