    1. Apparently when verse 14 says ‘The Word became a human being and lived among us,’ the actual Greek words say He ‘pitched His tent’ among us. I like that, He came to rescue us, but there was also a sense that He was here a temporary visitor.

    1. From the Essential Jesus book, ‘Jesus humbled himself (verse 7). The creator of the universe was willing to serve His creatures. Are you willing to serve those ‘lower’ than you?’ (Day 2).

      1. There is a lot of Pauline clutter in this passage. Essentially, Jesus is the image of the invisible God (15), and ‘in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell’ (19).

    1. Colossians 1:21, 22: ‘At one time you were separated from God. You were his enemies in your minds, and the evil things you did were against God. But now God has made you his friends again. He did this through Christ’s death in the body so that he might bring you into God’s presence as people who are holy, with no wrong, and with nothing of which God can judge you guilty.’

    1. From Essential Jesus book (Day 4) “If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus; He’s the “exact representation” of God (Hebrews 1 v.3). Want to know what God thinks about the world? Look at Jesus. Want to know what God likes and dislikes? Look at Jesus. Want to know what God thinks about people? Or about you? Look at Jesus.”

      1. From Essential Jesus book (Day 4)
        “Heavenly Father,
I’m so thankful that You want me to know who You are.
In spite of all my distractions, my heart’s desire is to know You.”

    1. 1 Peter 2:9, 10: God called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. At one time you were not a people, but now you are God’s people. In the past you had never received mercy, but now you have received God’s mercy.

    2. Day 5. According to Wikipedia, the Cornerstone (or foundation stone) was the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation, important since all other stones will be set in reference to this stone, thus determining the position of the entire structure’. The cornerstone is the reference stone. All the other stones are to be set according to that stone.
